Species and characteristics
There are many species of parrots, including the grey parrot, Amazonian parrot and the Kookatoo parrot. Parrots are intelligent and social birds that can mimic human language.

Diet
The ideal diet for parrots includes a mix of fresh vegetables, fruits and seeds. Papaya, banana, apple, grapes and berries are good choices among fruits. Vegetables include carrots, sweet potatoes, peas and corn. Seeds include sunflower, pumpkin and millet.

Lifespan
The lifespan of parrots depends on their species. Small parrots, such as budgies and cockatiels, live for 5-15 years, while larger parrots, such as African greys and macaws, can live for 20-80 years or more.

Reproduction and Eggs
In parrots’ reproduction, they usually lay one egg every two days and the eggs take 18-21 days to hatch. In some species, this period can range from 2.5 to 4 weeks. A parrot can lay 4 to 8 eggs at a time. The hatching period depends on the size of the bird, with smaller birds taking 10 days to 2 weeks and larger birds taking 3 weeks to a month.

There are about 400 species of parrots that are found all over the world. Buying a parrot will cost Rs 800. The most beautiful parrot is the Alexandrine parrot. The Hyacinth Macaw parrot has the ability to live up to about 100 years, making it a very long-lived bird. Parrots mate once a year.

Parrots can inhabit various trees and Peepal tree is also one of them which they like. The hill parrot is usually found in hilly areas like the Himalayas, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. The female parrot is called “Toti”.

The Kakapo parrot is famous for its rarity and uniqueness, and can cost between Rs 8 lakh and Rs 13 lakh. The height of parrots ranges from 8 cm to 100 cm or 3.5 inches to 39 inches, showing variations among different species. The length of the parrot is about 8.7 cm-100 cm.

Every year 31st May is celebrated as World Parrot Day. The most beautiful parrot is the Macaw. The African grey parrot, the greatest mimic of human language in wildlife, is one of the most intelligent birds on earth.
